Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru!
1:32 AM
Synopsis:
Abiding by his father’s will, Shougo was transferred into an academy where many young girls attend. It appears as though his younger sister (separated from him at birth) also attends this academy, and that she is trying to get closer to him without letting know him who she actually is. Problem is, Shougo seems to be popular with the other girls as well! Can Shougo “properly” reunite with his little sister and while making a girlfriend at the same time?!
- Director: Munenori Nawa (R-15, Kiss X Sis)
- Studio: Gokumi
My Take: Well, I think this PV essentially provided me all I needed to know about this show. This will probably work out for some people (no, I know it will), but unless there’s actual substance and entertainment in the episodes, I am not inspired by who’s directing it, and the trailer tells me all. In case the synopsis didn’t tell me enough as it is.
Blood lad synopsis
1:30 AM
Staz is the vampire boss of a section of the demon world, but he has little interest in human blood. He's more infatuated with Japanese culture. When he learns that Yanagi Fuyumi, a Japanese teenage girl, accidentally wanders into the demon city, he jumps to the occasion. However, while Staz deals with an intruder on his turf, the oblivious Fuyumi is killed by a monster and becomes a wandering ghost. The disappointed Staz vows to her that he will find a way to bring Fuyumi back to life.

Shinji said: Needs no introduction...fuck, doesn't even really need a description. This is one of the most influential anime around. I'm not shitting you. If you haven't seen it, you probably just don't like anime, or haven't seen any at all. This is one of the only anime around that you can introduce to somebody who is unfamiliar, and they will like it. It is one of the only anime around, that people who don't even really watch anime, have seen, or know about. It's THAT important to anime culture. The argument of it being Westernized is fucking daft. There are a lot of anime I could consider Westernized that aren't nearly as influential or successful, and furthermore, the argument in general is a matter of opinion. Why? Because Japan is already Westernized, as part of its own culture. By world events, it has become so. So what then isn't Westernized? Samurai anime...and you know what? A lot of those kinda suck. Anyways, if you're one of the small fraction of anime watching humanity that hasn't seen this show, there's something fucking wrong with you...now go fix it. (also, Yoko Kanno...which by itself is almost a reason to watch the damn show)

Con Report: Animation on Display (AOD) 2014
2:21 PM
Welcome to the West Coast
It’s perplexing that Animation on Display is as small as it is. The San Francisco-area convention, which began as college con Anime Overdose, has grown over 11 years into a multi-genre event catering to the whole geek spectrum (hence the new, less Japan-specific name). This year — my first time at AOD and my first time at a West Coast convention — the con had a new, more spacious location near San Francisco Airport and a bevy of big-name guests. Somehow, though, AOD remains a tiny convention, coming in at around 2,000–3,000 attendees over two days (January 25 and 26, 2014).
Typically, the caliber and volume of guests at a convention is a good indicator of its size and influence, but despite AOD’s attendance numbers telling the story of a larger-than-average college con, the event grabbed a lot of great guests. Anime voice actors Cristina Vee and Mike Sinterniklaas were in attendance, as was Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series creator and Internet superstar LittleKuriboh. Melissa Hutchison, the voice of Clementine in the award-winning Walking Dead video game, and Tommy Yune, an ex-game dev and current Harmony Gold creative director, brought up the video game contingent. Then there was Ken Pontac, creator of Happy Tree Friends, and Noelle Stevenson (a.k.a. Gingerhaze), creator of webcomic NIMONA. That’s a nice list with a variety of guests, but the issues became apparent when I glanced at the schedule.
While the guests had a few interesting panels scattered throughout the convention, AOD 2014’s events schedule was embarrassingly bare. Blocks were filled with barely thought out fan panels in which dubious “experts” answered questions about how to be Internet famous or get a job doing nerd stuff, with only a few going for the unique approaches and level of detail that I look for in panels. Heck, I actually attended the cosplay masquerade at AOD because there was so little on the schedule that appealed to me!

Gaara's Profile (⊃‿⊂) ~
5:36 PM
Gaara (我愛羅, Gaara) is a shinobi of Sunagakure. Shukaku was sealed into his body on the day he was born, a procedure that resulted in his mother's death. Regarded as a monster by the village and with nobody to love him, Gaara came to despise the world and began relying only on his own strength as Gaara of the Sand Waterfall (砂瀑の我愛羅, Sabaku no Gaara; English TV "Gaara of the Desert"). This power of self-love is later defeated by Naruto Uzumaki's unwavering dedication to his friends. From that point forward, Gaara begins emulating Naruto's method and changes Suna's opinions of him. He eventually become the village's FifthKazekage (五代目風影, Godaime Kazekage; Literally meaning "Fifth Wind Shadow"), a position he maintains even after Shukaku is removed from his body by Akatsuki.

Menma the Hero "ゆうしゃめんま"
When Jinta tells Tetsudō about his visions of Menma, he instantly believes him. Meanwhile, Anaru ends up encountering Chiriko, though she soon breaks into tears when Menma is mentioned. It is revealed that Naruko blames herself for the circumstances leading to Menma's death. Tetsudō suggests that the wish Menma might want granted was to have a rare monster from a Nokémon video game, which Jinta buys from the game shop Anaru works at. He spends the night playing it before Menma comes back. The next day, Tetsudō runs into Atsumu and mentions what Jinta told him about Menma. He later goes around Jinta's house and mentions that they would have to trade with another Nokémon game to get the rare monster. As a result, they visit Anaru, who agrees to help them on the condition that Jinta starts attending school again. During this visit, Menma is happy to realize that Anaru still has an abundance of video games and manga, just like when they were kids. After spending the night gaming, they manage to get the rare monster, though it turns out not to be Menma's wish. Nevertheless, they are positive that somehow Menma's wish will be found out and fulfilled. Jinta, however, has found his own wish: to apologize to Menma because of the incident.
